Adult Basic Education (ABE)

The goals of the Adult Basic Education course are to improve basic academic skills in reading, writing, and math. The ABE course is appropropriate for students interested in improving their scores on the Civil Service Exam and the ASVAB military exam. Students who need academic instruction in basic skills in preparation for studying to take the General Education Development (GED) exam should register for the Adult Basic Education course. During the Winter 2009 term, this course will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 - 8:45 PM for direct instruction in writing and math and individualized instruction in reading comprehension. Students may also attend on Saturdays from 9 - 11:45 AM for the purpose of accessing online resources using the computer lab and taking practice GED tests.

ABE0745: Participants study the basic skills in written communication, mathematics, and reading comprehension. Emphasis will be placed on those skills necessary to transition to the five General Education Development (GED) tests, to be successul in entry-level employment, or to be successful in college or other training.

Registration is ongoing at SWOCC. However, you must attend a two-session orientation prior to attending class. Call 469-5017 for more information.
